Relativity

In some other world, some other town
Someone is fast asleep by now.
On some other time, not even today
I bet there’s someone with something to say.
People are moving around and about
Wise old men are teaching young sprouts.
Standing still or lying in bed
I see the whole world turning over my head.

The trouble it is, the longer I stay
The closer I am to things far away.
So I look again down the darkened pit
And stare at the abyss that draws me to it.
Knowing is feeling that when I’m not there
It’s the cruel abyss that starts to stare.
The answer that lies in the question itself
Is what I use to lie to myself.
